Argentina: Indigenous Cuisine & dogdays

Restaurant El Baqueano Salta

El Baqueano - Cocina Autóctona Contemporanea

A renowned restaurant at the top of the San Bernardo hill, which is part of a mountain range covered in jungle vegetation. The view of the entire city of Salta couldn't be better.

we enjoyed a pleasant evening of culinary delights with travel friends in this great restaurant.
So, the anticipation was great when we took a cab back up the mountain. We were not disappointed, as we were once again able to enjoy 7 imaginatively prepared courses in a tasteful ambience.

Driving tests in Argentina

We were standing in a large, empty and quiet parking lot of a sports center at night.
In the morning, a vehicle from the Transit police arrives. A policeman and a policewoman set up a couple of orange traffic cones to conduct driving tests for motorcyclists and motorists. Skills assessed for the practical test are controlled starting and stopping, speed changes, emergency braking, turning.
The fire extinguisher is also very important. Parking is just as important. But do we wonder how all the extreme, perforated rust buckets we see every day pass a technical test?
Theoretical knowledge is tested separately. Because what happens at one of the many traffic circles every day is unbelievable. No idea about the rules of right of way. Either the person entering the traffic circle brakes or the person in the traffic circle, or they both drive, which results in at least one honking concert. On the road, however, "no right of way" is clearly signaled for the driver entering the roundabout.
We are also not surprised when we indicate to turn left and are overtaken on the left by two ladies on a motorbike, only to be viciously insulted.

Dog days in Argentina

30 degrees at night. Our camping neighbor even hoses down his motorhome and the surrounding area with water to cool things down. We leave the air conditioning on low, that's enough!
Over a week with temperatures of around 40 degrees Celsius during the day, humidity of around 80% and several heavy thunderstorms circling over us for hours on end, that also got on our nerves. So, we stayed at a campsite for a few days and with land power for the air conditioning we solved the problem.
