As a change from our vacation here in Park Manantial, we drove the 40 km to Encarnacion for a day of shopping. There we enjoyed a fine sushi and a very good Thai dish for lunch.
The excellent Dolcissimo ice cream store is in the same building. I can never go past it. Brigitte is a little less keen on sweets.
Torrential rain
Last week it rained heavily for four days. We've never experienced such intense, continuous rain during our entire trip. The smallest paths turned into large streams. As a result, there was also a power cut lasting several hours.
The rain didn't affect us too much, as we were standing parallel to a covered 60 square meter terrace with a great view. Thanks to our sun/rain blind, which had been extended by 1 meter, we got to our seat without getting wet.
6x2 = 12m2 living space
Everyone has their opinion - the ultimate, absolute best vehicle for traveling the world doesn't exist anyway. It doesn't matter which touring vehicle you use if you feel comfortable and happy driving it. Every type of vehicle has advantages and disadvantages - there are always compromises to be made.
We feel comfortable in our mobile, heavily motorized 12m2 Tiny House. With the rain/sun blind, we have a protected outdoor area of another 12m2. With our maneuverable, not cumbersome, small vehicle, we are certainly also well on the road for our age. During our trip around the world, we have already been able to call various motorhomes our own. With larger touring vehicles, a second vehicle certainly makes a lot of sense and is a must.
“What will you do when you are getting older, and you have to change heavy tires weighing up to 150 kg on your mobile truck”? We answered this question from a travel friend - deflate.
Barber store
Last year, I visited one of the many barber stores in Brazil. I had to lie down on a lounger to have my moustache trimmed. The stylist snipped at my moustache for so long that all that was left was a paltry remnant. Since then, I have avoided these specialists.
My moustache is now a reasonable length again. Unfortunately, that wasn't always the case.

Out of curiosity, and as we just had time, a nice lady showed us the advantages of a well-guarded property.
We've seen and heard too much about so-called expatriates around the world for it to even remotely occur to us to settle down abroad outside Europe. In remarkably few cases, things go smoothly.
Prices here in Paraguay are reasonable by European standards. Plots of land from 800 square meters for 30,000 USD. Houses already built starting from USD 250,000. The whole thing is payable in installments, term max. 10 years with 10 - 12 % interest.
Now, the not heavily undeveloped area still looks very attractive. When buying, however, it should be noted that the prescribed boundary distances are very small. This would mean that at least 1000 square meters or two small plots would be required for a reasonable development.
We cannot and do not want to judge the security situation here in Paraguay. However, it is noticeable that more and more protected, walled resorts are being built here too.
Here in Hohenau, the return rate of euphorically immigrated Europeans is 40 percent after around 2 years. That says it all.
One year Birthday party in Paraguay
A huge effort is made for a girl's first and fifteenth birthday. The first birthday is so important because child mortality used to be very high during this period. With the completion of the first year of life, this hurdle is overcome. No expense is spared. We were able to witness this live and marvel at the event with 100 guests.
