Border crossing with extensive inspection
We traveled from Argentina to Chile via the Pehuenche Pass. This time, we did not have a digitally completed entry form for food items. Therefore, we had to fill it out directly at the border.
We made the mistake of ticking “no” for all the collective questions. This proved to be our undoing, as the very thorough inspection by the official revealed an open packet of nuts. An additional official

100 km drive and only 9 vehicles crossed
From Villa Union in Argentina, we drove over a hundred kilometers south during the day. Along the entire route, we only passed four semi-trucks and five passenger cars. It is interesting to note that on these lonely roads, drivers are even more likely to flash their headlights or wave to greet each other. This is probably because they are aware that they would be heavily dependent on each other in the event of a breakdown.

Trust is good, control is better
In the Supermarket Libertad in Salta, we selected vegetables and fruits, weighed ourselves, glued the price sticker on the plastic bags and wanted to pay at the cash register at the end of our purchases.

A month's vacation at Parque Manantial, Hohenau, PY
Over the past few weeks, we've had our bodies "caressed" by an osteopath; shopped for sausage and cheese specialties at Don Otto; stocked up
Uruguay: secluded beaches, fresh fish and antique buildings
July 2025

Leisurely winter in Uruguay
No major highlights awaited us after our stay in Switzerland, but the Atlantic coast is still truly beautiful.
Lots of peace thanks to fewer tourists. Temperatures dropped to freezing point at night. We enjoyed the secluded beaches.
In January, the coastal towns are once again overrun by thousands of people.
Switzerland: watches, jazz and suitcases
June 2025

Planet SWATCH and OMEGA Museum
A friend told us about his visit to the Planet Swatch Museum in Biel. So we visited the exhibition and were amazed by the more than five thousand different Swatch watches.
The Omega Museum in the same building was also very interesting. Traditional old pocket watches, OMEGA moon landing, submarine watches. I realized that I am also a bit of an “antique”, as the watch model of one of my earlier Chrono Quartz watches is already on display in the museum.
Switzerland: Vacation at Home

Vacation in Switzerland and Austria
The flight with Iberia from Montevideo via Madrid to Zurich was punctual and trouble-free. Picking up our rental car from Hertz for our entire stay was as simple as usual. We were very warmly welcomed by

Paso Pehuenche - Argentina to Chile
The drive over the Paso Pehuenche was interesting and varied. Tarred roads with many crash barriers, which were damaged or torn away by falling rocks or debris. Gauchos on horseback herding herds with their dogs, lonely farmsteads, magnificent Andean landscape with crystal clear, deep blue lakes. We were thrilled.

Aurora Austral - Husky Farm
Our visit with Konrad and Emilie and their 36 huskies will remain unforgettable for us. After spending the night on their premises, we were ready as agreed at eight o'clock for the husky training drive and kennel visit adventure.
Konrad explained a few basic facts about the various sled dog breeds beforehand. As we didn't want to be out too late with the team in too warm weather, they started soon with the preparations.
Konrad informed us about training, feeding, breeding and his experiences with dogs. He also told us that the dogs just want to run. They forget everything else.

Argentina: San Antonio de Areco & long-term parking Uruguay
April 2025

San Antonio de Areco, Argentina
This small town with around 25,000 inhabitants impresses with its charm. We really liked the artistically carved front doors with their filigree grilles, as well as the weathered facades with their pastel colors. The well-preserved Baroque church was very impressive.
Many art objects in various small parks inspires visitors. We took away many positive impressions from this visit to the city.
