Uruguay: secluded beaches, fresh fish and antique buildings

Leisurely winter in Uruguay

No major highlights awaited us after our stay in Switzerland, but the Atlantic coast is still truly beautiful.
Lots of peace thanks to fewer tourists. Temperatures dropped to freezing point at night. We enjoyed the secluded beaches.
In January, the coastal towns are once again overrun by thousands of people.

Beach promenades are lined with restaurants and stores, which are only open during the high season.
In July, many campsites were closed. Thanks to the winter season, we had no problem finding free pitches.
In the Santa Teresa National Park, we strolled through the old fortification of Fortaleza Santa Teresa.
The fish bought directly from the fishermen were very fresh and correspondingly tasty.
Special sunrises and sunsets were almost part of everyday life.
We skipped the sights in Montevideo this time.
Punta del Este, the vacation resort on the Uruguayan coast, is considered the most expensive place in Uruguay. Many high-rise buildings with thousands of apartments and rooms, luxury villas, glass palaces, concrete blocks, shopping centers, restaurants, chic clubs, stores and everything a beach holidaymaker could possibly need.
Pueblo 19 de Abril, Uruguay, is in the department of Rocha. For us, it is an interesting place with lots of exhibited art and unique old buildings. The few hundred inhabitants maintain their buildings and look after the many publicly exhibited paintings. Good photo subjects for us.
